New Delhi The country's largest bank State Bank of India (SBI) has withdrawn the repo rate linked (RLLR) home loan scheme. SBI launched the repo rate linked home loan scheme in July. Responding to a user query on Twitter, the bank has tweeted that it has withdrawn the repo rate based home loan scheme.
First bank to offer SBI repo linked home loan
Let us know that SBI was the first to offer a repo rate based home loan. After this, other banks have brought such loans. Repo rate linked lending rate based home loan scheme is a new product. This means that if the central bank reduces the repo rate, then home loan customers will also have to pay less interest. The motive behind this was to bring the benefit of cutting the repo rate to the customers as soon as possible
When SBI introduced the Marginal Cost of Lending Rate (MCLR) based interest rate in 2014, other banks also abandoned the base rate system and adopted MCLR. The repo-linked lending rate (RLLR) of SBI is 2.25 percent above the repo rate of RBI. Right now the repo rate is 5.40 per cent, then the RLLR of SBI is 7.65 per cent. Apart from this, spreads above the RLLR are 0.40 per cent and 0.55 per cent. Accordingly, new home loan customers can take home loans at 8.05 percent or 8.20 percent annually.
