After losing the opening match of an IPL season against KKR and the next 3 matches as well, Mumbai Indians slowly came back to winning when they notched a couple of wins at their home ground.
CHENNAI SUPER KINGS 2010
The team won just 2 games out of their first 7 games and were almost out of the competition after their captain MS Dhoni was injured and missed out few games. But, by winning 5 games out of their last 7, they scraped through and finally won the IPL trophy.
2014 KOLKATA KNIGHT RIDERS
The team started with a win over Mumbai in the UAE but tapered off their win by losing 3 of their next 4 games. After returning back to India, they changed their strategy and the move helped them ensure a playoff spot as KKR won 5 matches consecutively and also finished ahead of Chennai with a better net run-rate.
2014 MUMBAI INDIANS
The team went into a major slump as they failed to register even a single wint out of the 5 matches that were scheduled in the UAE. But as they returned to India, Mumbai Indians notched up 7 out of their remaining 9 games.
ROYAL CHALLENGERS BANGALORE 2016
RCB had a relatively slow start to the season that led them to drift to the bottom of the table after they had won only 2 of the first seven games. But, the team ensured its spot in the first qualifier by winning 6 of their next 7 games

CSK were unlikely to progress to the playoffs having won just 5 out of their first 12 games, again in 2012. But they won 3 out of their remaining 4 and then rode their luck to qualify as they had a better net run rate.
ROYAL CHALLENGERS BANGALORE 2011
RCB won their first match of the season but lost their momentum as they were comprehensively beaten in the next 3 matches and were placed at the bottom of the table after 5 matches. After Chris Gayle replaced Dirk Nannes, they won 7 matches consecutively and sealed the top spot in the points table.
